Day 1: Mandalay

Pick up from Mandalay International Airport. Meet our guide and head southwest to Mahamuni Pagoda, a Buddhist temple and major pilgrimage site. Marvel at the 12-foot high image of Buddha, cast in bronze and covered with a thick layer of gold leaf. Next Zegyo Market where you can find many upper Myanmar product.

After the temple, visit local workshops and watch heavily embroidered kalaga tapestries being sewn, and gold leaf being beaten into paper-thin pieces. Continue to Kuthodaw Pagoda, a gilded stupa where Theravada Buddhist scriptures are inscribed on 729 marble slabs – the world's largest book. The next stop is Shwenandaw Monastery, known for the teak carvings of Buddhist myths which adorn its walls and roofs.

Finish your first day with a visit to Mandalay Hill, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city as the sun sets. Your driver will then take you to your hotel, where you can spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Day 2: Amarapura- Inwa (Ava) (B)

The first stop on the second day is Mahagandayon, one of the largest teaching monasteries in Myanmar, and home to up to 2,000 monks at any given time. Arrive in Amarapura, a former capital of Myanmar, and visit U Bein Bridge. Built in 1782, it stretches almost a mile across Taung Tha Man Lake and is believed to be the oldest and longest teakwood bridge in the world.

Next to Sagaing Hill, where you can see how rural people live in Myanmar. On Sagaing Hill you can enjoy lunch and visit three more pagodas: Soon U Pon Nya Shin, U Min Thonesal, and Kaunghmutaw Pagoda.

Proceed to Bagaya Monastery by horse cart, which was built with 267 gigantic teak wood posts and stands 88 feet (57m) high and 103 feet (31m) wide. Explore the monastery, with its buddha image and Pitakascriptures, then head to Nanmyin Watch Tower in Ava. At 90 feet high (30m) the tower contains not a clock but a large drum which was beaten to mark the hours according to the Myanmar clock. The drum is no longer used, but the tower does offer a wonderful view of the deserted Palace of Ava.

Finally, visit Maha Aungmyay Bonezan Monastery, an ornate structure memorable for its striking ochre color, after which your driver will drop you back at your hotel in Mandalay.

Day 3: Mingun (B)

After breakfast, visit to Mingun by boat around 1 hour. Mingun Pahtodawgyi, a monument stupa begun by King Bodawpaya in 1790 which was intentionally left unfinished. The Mingun Bell, weighing 90 tons, is the second largest ringing bell in the world. Continue to the beautiful white-painted pagoda Myatheindan Pagoda. Arrive around Mandalay at 12:00.
